Does Your Home Need An Unlimited Internet Plan?

When people started working from home at the beginning of the pandemic, many internet service providers decided to suspend their data caps and offer unlimited internet to their customers. However, those data caps are coming back, and you may have spoiled yourself over the last year with unlimited data. If you are debating between going back to your old plan or switching to an unlimited data plan, here are some reasons why your home needs unlimited data.

You Transfer Large Files For Work

Most people that work from home will never hit their data caps due to the nature of their work. For example, they may work with spreadsheets and word documents all day, which use very little data when uploading finished documents.

However, there are other professions that use much more data as part of your job. If you are a graphic designer, you may be sending very large renders over the internet for co-workers to look at. If you work in video production, you may be downloading raw footage and photos that can easily cause you to hit your data cap. It really depends on what you are doing for your day job.

You Stream A Lot Of Video

Video streaming services have started to become a viable alternative to cable and satellite television these days, with the ability to watch shows on-demand and stream what you want. While the amount of data you used to watch TV wasn't an issue with those traditional services, it now is something that you need to think about.

If you have a lot of people streaming video in your home, then it's easy to hit your data cap due to the increase in data usage. You may even have people that forget to turn off the streaming devices they are using, which uses data as shows run in the background with nobody actively watching them.

You Buy Digital Video Games

Buying video games digitally is a huge convenience since you no longer need to swap discs to play a game. However, those games do take up a ton of space on your hard drive, and frequently downloading and installing games can put some stress on any data cap that you have. You may have the convenience of digital downloads, but it is quite easy for a single game to take up a ton of your monthly data to download it. Don't give yourself unnecessary stress when you don't have to think about it with an unlimited internet plan.
